Renovating a house inevitably takes time, so Lisa, 44, and Mark Philpott, 46, knew that they would have to live with their dark and scruffy hallway for at least a year before they could finally contemplate creating a welcoming reception to their three-bedroom terrace in Bromley. ‘What’s more, while I wanted a light, bright space with plenty of storage our new loft conversion required fire doors on all levels, so previously borrowed daylight from surrounding and upstairs rooms was suddenly seriously lacking, and the hallway even gloomier and more claustrophobic than ever,’ explains Lisa.
