Your magazine has outdone itself in trying to claim the Leyland P76 as a ʻgreat Briton Down Underʼ (C&SC, September). My friend was purchasing manager at Leyland Australia at the time, sourcing everything for the P76, and told me British Leyland management was at best indifferent and at worst dismissive of Leyland Australiaʼs work on developing products for the local market, including the P76. His contempt for them and their attitudes to the ʻcolonialsʼ at Zetland endures to this day.
