ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN
EVERGREEN
LONDON
★★★★
The correct answer to “What’s the best comeback single ever?”, the anthemic Nothing Lasts Forever was rivalled – on the Bunnymen’s first LP with Ian McCulloch in a decade – by Just A Touch Away, while Don’t Let It Get You Down proved that they could still offer louche rock on demand. Finally out on vinyl after 25 years, the CD version adds B-sides and 14 live songs, including a commanding Buffalo Bill from an intense show at Kilburn National. For once, every bit as good as McCulloch says they are.
