★★★☆
Cults have suffered diminishing returns since 2011 single Go Outside earned the spotlight, but though they’ve sacrificed its sound for more polish, there’s still plenty to love, and opener Trials’s sweet retro may even lure early fans back, too. Either way, Spit You Out’s rubbery textures sound better for a more opulent setting, and Madeline Follin’s voice, just the right side of cutely breathy, enriches Masquerading’s ‘Wall of Sound’ and balances out No Risk’s murky rhythms. Elsewhere, Like I Do and 8th Avenue sound like David Holmes already got his hands on them.
