YELLO

Things always turn out well when a Yello album begins with gibberish, and Waba Duba launches their 14th LP in grand style, Dieter Meier’s vocals chanted with sinister intent but more often sliced into Dadaesque babble. (Let’s not forget he calls his typewriter ‘Baby’.) The track retains the playfulness of best-known tune The Race, Boris Blank’s brassy synths as flatulent as the slaps of his rhythms are viscous, but it could also suit One Second, their phenomenally sophisticated 1987 collection. There is no greater compliment.
