Classic Pop Presents  |  Live Aid 40th Anniversary Edition
To celebrate 40 years since Live Aid, Classic Pop is revisiting the greatest live event the world has seen with an in-depth special edition exploring the global charity spectacular.
From Queen's heroic performance at Wembley Stadium, Freddie Mercury punching the air triumphantly in iconic white vest and jeans, to a host of musical megastars – David Bowie, Madonna, George Michael, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, Duran Duran and INXS amongst them, Live Aid ensured the event would be burned the world's collective memories – an estimated audience of 1.9 million.
In this issue, we explore the day's events as they happened and we survey the line-up's best and most controversial moments. Elsewhere, we speak to many of the superstars who appeared, plus we sat down with Live Aid's official photographer Denis O'Regan, who kindly gave us some rare and intimate backstage images. Elsewhere, we take a look at those who missed out, relive the US show and rest of the global events and examine Live Aid's ongoing legacy. It truly was a day to remember.
