Few artists deserve the title of "genuinely out of the ordinary" as much as Kate Bush. Her debut single Wuthering Heights in January 1978 stunned the world with its high-spirited, curious nature. Written at just 18, it was a unique record that demanded repeated listens, earning both praise and parody. Bush became the first female artist to achieve a No.1 single with a self-penned song.

Fast forward to her fifth and most iconic album, Hounds Of Love, which turns 40 this September. This masterpiece silenced critics and elevated Bush to superstar status. The album featured imaginative pop on one side and progressive, enchanted material on the other, exploring themes of passion, love, mystery, the supernatural, life, and death. It dethroned Madonna to top the UK charts, granting Bush the creative freedom to pursue her artistic vision.

In recent years, Running Up That Hill, a classic single from Hounds Of Love, gained renewed attention after its prominent feature in Netflix’s Stranger Things. This introduced Bush to a new generation, leading her to break records and reach UK No.1 in 2022 — almost four decades after the album's release. This resurgence also led to her induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2023.

This updated anniversary special revisits Kate Bush’s journey, from her formative years to her triumphant return to the stage in 2014. As for her future, we can only hope she continues to amaze us.
