Classic.Retro.Modern. Magazine | May/June 2025
Welcome to May, the month of two bank holidays and a new issue of the classic car mag that’s more than adequate for most people. Knowing that you might be short of things to do on your extra day off (assuming you’re not at work), we’ve packed issue 34 with a trio of new features and the return of a much-loved section from the past. Well, at least two people enjoyed it.
Our cover star is the Renault Twingo Renaultsport 133, which takes us back to a time when the French company produced some of the best hot hatches in the world. The Twingo is the smallest and most affordable member of the Renaultsport stable, but on the evidence of our test drive, it’s more than capable of punching above its weight.
Elsewhere, Antony Ingram drives a Nissan Micra K11, Gavin waxes lyrical about the Mk4 Vauxhall Astra, Rich Duisberg champions the Porsche 924, while Alex Wakefield lifts the lid on a rather special Toyota Avensis that’s found a new home in the British Motor Museum. There’s even room for Rich to shine a light on a Zastava with a difference.
As for those new features, please enjoy Celebrity Squares, Commercial Break and Myth Busting. The latter gives Jon Burgess a platform to give us the lowdown on the Isuzu Piazza Turbo. Please enjoy that once you’ve come to terms with the photo of Ken Bruce with hair and Bernie Clifton with a Lada Samara. If that’s not enough, our Picture Past is a showcase of vans of the 1960s and 1970s. It’s the classic car mag that keeps on delivering, or something.
Enjoy the new issue (and the long weekend).
