e’re big fans of Clipchamp, Microsoft’s video-editing app that’s now built into Windows 11, and is available to install for Windows 10. If you’ve not tried it yet, you may be surprised at how accomplished even the free edition can be.
It comes with a range of templates to help you get started, and a wide selection of editing tools, with which you can trim, mix, add transitions, and overlay your video with subtitles and shapes.
The paid-for version costs £9.99 a month (discounted to £6.99 for your first month), or £99.99 a year (discounted to £69.99 for your first year) if you commit to 12 months up front. For that, you get 4K video exports, premium filters to give your videos a professional look, and automatic backups to online storage so you can access your videos wherever you are.
Microsoft updates Clipchamp regularly, so there are always new tools to try. Here we’ll explain how to enhance a video using the best new features released in January (www.snipca. com/53724). If you don’t currently have Clipchamp installed on your computer, download the latest version from the Microsoft Store (www. snipca.com/53722).
To check you’re using the latest version of Clipchamp, open the Microsoft Store, then click Downloads at the bottom left. If Clipchamp requires an update, you'll see it listed at the top.

As with any video-editing software you first need to import your raw footage. Open Clipchamp then click ‘Create a new video’ on the home screen. On the following screen, click Import ( 1 in our screenshot), then navigate to the folder containing your video files and select them 2 .
