Q One of my memory sticks is warning me that it is ‘write protected’ and I would like to remove this protection. Please can you tell me how to do this. I have tried following tips on the internet but they just baffle me.

A This annoyance sometimes relates to a missing registry value on a PC but, as it’s affecting just one of your sticks, the problem must be with that specific device. We don’t know when or why, but it’s likely that a program you’ve used with the stick has applied a read-only ‘attribute’ to prevent data being accidentally wiped.
To fix that, you’ll have to use PowerShell, which can be quite daunting. You also need to work very carefully, because the final command you enter will instantly and irreversibly wipe data from the selected drive.
