An interview with... Ange Ireland
Australian designer Ange Ireland chats to CrossStitcher about modern stitching with pop culture influences and choosing the brightest colours…
Interview by Lucy Evans
“I sometimes just sit and doodle and design elements individually.”
“I’m a solo stitcher –I need
all my home comforts and access to all of my supplies to be able to settle in and stitch.”
“My office is my ultimate happy spot as I have everything I need, including our Springer Spaniel asleep on my feet.”
We caught up with Ange Ireland, who has used her obsession with childhood pop culture to inform her bold, bright cross stitch designs…
Hi Ange, what initially attracted you to cross stitching?
It was a big craft for my mum in the 1980s. She would cross stitch gifts for us growing up and I wanted to do it too. I got my first cross stitch kit as a Christmas present as a kid. My mum has moved on to other crafts and I am now the one cross stitching gifts for the family!
