Autumn is the perfect time to hit the UK’s beaches for a bit of surfing – the water is warm from the summer sun and the waves are starting to get up. Not only the ultimate ‘mindful’ sport, surfing can also act as an excellent all-round workout, as it counts as cardio. It makes your back, shoulder, and leg muscles work hard to get you on the board, as well as working your core muscles to keep your balance. It’s also a great way to spend time outdoors and enjoy nature, rather than sweating it out in a gym on machines, say ETE TriCamps who are running an all-levels surf-fitness weekend in the South Hams, South Devon, 6-8 October. From £450; see etetricamps.com/camps/surf-fitness for more information.
