T here’s something quietly brilliant about the Apple Watch Series 7 – it does everything you want the world’s best-selling smart watch to do, but then does it just that little bit more. And that, right now, is plenty… despite the lack of headline-grabbing new features.
Pre-launch speculation is somewhat to blame, given that there were persistent rumours that the Watch Series 7 would get a radical makeover this year. That didn’t happen, but even at the launch in September it was overshadowed by the new iPhone 13 and iPad mini, and Apple remained suspiciously schtum about both Apple Watch Series 7’s actual launch date (it eventually arrived on 15 October) and whether it was going to get more powerful innards to match its pretty face. More on that in a minute.
