When Manchester thrashcore mob Tortured Demon played the Jägermeister stage at Bloodstock 2021, they went in so hard they broke the stage. This year they’re returning to Catton Hall, but on the bigger – and likely sturdier – Sophie Lancaster stage, and with this debut album in their arsenal. There’s a good range of styles here, from riff-filled, double bass kick-laden thrashers like Global Threat to more melodic songs such as the title track – and even a branch out into longer, epic territory with the closing, seven-minute The Damage Is Done. Perhaps more staggering is that the four-piece have an average age below 20. They sound like they’ve been doing this for decades. ■■■■■■■■□□
