You know swimming is more than just a way to keep fit and healthy when it starts to seep into other areas of your life. Kerry Dickinson and Sarah Rousseau are old friends who discovered outdoor swimming three years ago and now publish a seasonal swimming magazine as a side passion. Swimzine: swimspiration for the soul, was first published in February this year and a third issue will come out this autumn. “It’s a way of sharing the love,” says Kerry. “It isn’t a ‘how to’ or nuts and bolts of swimming, it is about the joy of it. A place for people to express their love and joy | for swimming.”
Like all good ideas, Swimzine was born in the water. Sarah and Kerry were swimming through their first winter last year when Sarah pitched the idea to Kerry. “Kerry is an artist and I used to be a photographer,” says Sarah. “There are so many talented people that also swim, we follow them on social media, see their work and wanted some way to pull it all together in one place. It was just going to be this little zine that I would print at work, but because Kerry and I couldn’t contain ourselves, it has become so much more.”
