Vinyl remaster of Canterbury outliers’ second album.
Founded in the early 1970s by keyboardist Alan Gowen, Gilgamesh was a short-lived outfit, plagued by instability and struggling to maintain a dependable line-up due to difficulties in securing gigs. Thankfully, two different incarnations of the band left behind a pair of exquisite albums overflowing with Gowen’s elegant and articulate compositions. While 1975’s Dave Stewart co-produced self-titled debut sits more readily within the Canterbury firmament, recorded in 1978, this set draws upon a jazzier end of that particular musical continuum.
