Prog jogging, anyone?
Rock’n’roll and running don’t traditionally go hand in hand, although this writer admits he could do with a bit of exercise. For Midlake and Mercury Rev keyboardist Jesse Chandler, it’s a very different matter. Inspired by his father David, who was very much part of the 1970s short shorts, granola and a healthy dash to start the day brigade, Chandler has inherited a love of running. His father taught him that the runner’s high was a thing, and the musician has subsequently created a wonderfully engaging, melodic and meditative solo album as Pneumatic Tubes.
