- Ceasefire...? What ceasfire?
After the war in Vietnam ended in early 1973, most of the US combat troops departed Southeast Asia; all but a handful of ‘advisors’ remained in South Vietnam and apart from the Navy’s carriers in the Gulf of Tonkin, the only credible presence of combat aircraft was in Thailand, where the USAF retained a small but viable combat element. Jan van Waarde reports on USA operations from Thailand after the Vietnam war ended.
