Teddy Bear Times Magazine Issue 271 Zurück Ausgabe

I was recently reading about the introduction of AI (artificial intelligence) to our everyday lives, in all sorts of ways. I’m still very unsure about AI as I prefer a certain amount of personal input - a human being behind a supermarket checkout, for example. Don’t get me wrong…technology is helpful to us in so many ways; the advances brought to medical science are amazing, and it would certainly take a lot longer to produce your favorite teddy bear magazine without it. But we have ‘actual people’ writing features and taking photos. I’m not sure a prescriptive way of writing articles would be quite the same. It’s good to have different opinions, writing styles and influences.
When it comes to making something physical, like a teddy bear, there will probably be slight imperfections, evidence of human touch. Maybe only the maker will be able to detect them but it is these imperfections that make each creation unique. There is nothing wrong with a series of bears all looking the same - limited editions have been popular for many years. But the thought that a machine can be programmed to create the ‘perfect’ teddy bear…I’m not so sure. I intend to continue to champion the handmade and human-designed things in life for as long as possible.
I hope you enjoy discovering the handmade creations of teddy bear artists new and more familiar in this issue of TBT & Friends. Every one of them has put hours of practice and dedication into what they produce, taking care to make their creations to the best of their ability. All have been created with love and are sure to be loved by the humans who adopt them.
So, embrace the imperfections (especially if you spot one in this magazine…).
