Diesel&EcoCar Magazine May 2023 Back Issue

English

As Volkswagen reveals a concept car of its forthcoming £22k electric car, we reckon it’s significant enough to grace the cover of the May 2023 edition of Diesel&EcoCar. If VW stay true to their word, this cut-price EV will bring price parity to the petrol and diesel world. But is it little more than a PR stunt to grab the headlines? Pick up a copy of Diesel&EcoCar to find out the essential statistics about this ground-breaking new concept car.

Elsewhere, it is another German giant that is dominating the news pages, with not one, two or even three new models announced, there’s a total of four. Read about the new GLC Coupé, alongside the first information on the facelifted GLA, GLB and GLS. We’ve also got the first shots of the Kia EV5 concept car, so far just confirmed for China, but rumoured to be hitting Europe, too, and we’ve got more information on the EV9 that arrives here later this year.

This month’s twin test focuses on two of the cheapest new cars on sale in the UK – the Citroën C3 and Dacia Sandero. Which one is voted our favourite low-cost car? We’ve also been testing the DS 7 and the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, both in diesel guise, as well as pure electric versions of the Subaru Solterra and Genesis G80 Electrified. Our testers have also driven the updated Suzuki Swace and the mildly sporty Vauxhall Astra GSe plug-in hybrid. This month’s used car buyer’s guide is all about the Ford EcoSport 1.5 diesel.

We’ve recently given Diesel&EcoCar a fresh look, with new features and updated content compared to before. Have you checked out the latest design? If not, don’t forget to pick up a copy.

diesel, green cars, electric mag

The UK’s leading magazine for diesel, green cars, electric, hybrids and alternative fuelled vehicles, full of advice on tech, mechanics, future plans. great photos inspiring reviews Reviewed 21 August 2022

I like the way it has evolved over the years

I have been buying it in print and online since the early 2000s and I like that it always has focused on the economy end of motoring, or us cheapskates if you like. It has moved to covering hybrids and electric cars which is good, and hasn't forgotten its roots - diesels.

It's a friendly, down to early mag and Doctor Diesel is still the best bit.
