I like the way you moo
Darren Harris deploys fieldcraft in search of beautiful winter wildlife
Shooting wildlife in the countryside can be tricky if you don’t do your research. In Bedfordshire, I am surrounded by fields and an abundance of wildlife, but you’ve got to know where to look.
When I first started photographing wildlife, I would go out to a random field or woodland and hope to come across something I could shoot. But I quickly realised that to get a decent image, I would need to learn some fieldcraft and acquire a little bit of knowledge about the wildlife I wanted to find. This can take hours of research, and many trips out with nothing to show on the camera. But when the moment arrives, and you get the shot you’ve been seeing in your head, it makes all the unsuccessful trips irrelevant.
