X-T50 with 40MP APS-C sensor and XF16-50mm F2.8-4.8 R LM WR kit zoom available for pre-order
Fujifilm fans will have noticed that the X-T50 succeeds the F X-T30 II and the manufacturer will have sound reasons for giving an X-T40 a swerve. Nomenclature speculation aside, the X-T50 costs around half as much again as the X-T30 II, so what will buyers get for their money? The X-T50 is based around a 40MP sensor and X-Processor 5 image processor and offers up to seven stops of in-body image stabilisation and 6K video. While Fujifilm’s X-T20 and X-T30 tended to feature tech from models with one fewer zero in the product name, the X-T50 only gets a single SD card slot, in comparison to the pair that features in its highly regarded X-T5 sibling – plus a slightly inferior viewfinder, a smaller battery and a lack of weather-sealing. Also released was the XF16-50mm F2.8-4.8 R LM WR, which succeeds the XF18-55mm F2.8-4 kit lens. The 16-50mm optic features an internal zoom mechanism and three control rings (focus, zoom and aperture), although it lacks optical stabilisation. www.fujifilm.com; £1,299/$1,399 (X-T50, body only). £699/$699 (XF16-50mm F2.8-4.8 R LM WR)
