He shoots, he scores!
Local sport events offer great opportunities for compelling shots, says Peter Hatter

Typically I shoot sports for clients who give me access to areas that are usually closed off to spectators. But I’ll often attend sports events as a public spectator because I want to try new techniques, practise or simply shoot a sport that interests me. By doing this, I have the same access as anyone else who has turned up to watch the event.
Most weekends there are small events around the country that offer interesting and dynamic sporting opportunities for images, to any photographer who takes the time to seek them out. The great thing about finding events in your local area is that you don’t have to travel to the far corners of the country to enjoy them. There are usually fewer restrictions on where spectators can go, too, so it’s easier to find those interesting places to take your shot.
