Market leader unveils top-of-the-range mirrorless, two affordable lenses for the RF mount and a handful of accessories, including a new wireless flash controller
Canon released its long-awaited EOS R3 last month, after having teased it in the spring. And the actual specification of the brand’s new flagship mirrorless was much as expected – read all about this exciting new camera for sports and news pros in our hands-on review on page 112.
Also announced in the same press event was a pair of affordable new optics for the Canon RF mount: the RF 16mm f/2.8 STM and the RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM. The RF 16mm f/2.8 is the first ultra-wide prime lens in the EOS R line-up: it’s been designed to meet the growing demand for vlogging, as well as being an ideal lightweight lens for landscape, architectural and astrophotography. And nature and sports enthusiasts are sure to welcome the arrival of the RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8, a Canon-quality long lens that won’t break the bank – or your back.
The brand also announced a new compact wireless flash controller, the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E10, for the R3’s new multi-function hotshoe. www.canon.co.uk; £319/$299 (RF 16mm f/2.8 STM). £699/$649 (RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM); £159/$119 (ST-E10)
