Galaxy quest
Alistair Campbell turns a simple cloud shot into a starscape
Alistair Campbell
The existence of galaxies was not recognised until the early 20th century. Since then, however, galaxies have become one of the focal points of astronomical investigation. Nature has provided an immensely varied array of galaxies, ranging from faint, diffuse dwarf objects to brilliant spiral-shaped giants. These variations result from the way in which the systems were formed and evolved. Here we’ll make our own galaxy without having to use Hubble’s latest telescope to see it.
