Like any new camera from Leica, the SL2-S might be expected to have both exceptional build quality and an eye-watering price point. But while the Leica SL2-S is more expensive than Panasonic alternatives like the Lumix S1, it’s considerably less expensive than the original SL2.
Leica is pitching the SL2-S as a more video-focused alternative to the Leica SL2; these cameras look as if they have a similar relationship to the Panasonic Lumix S1 and the Lumix S1R. Panasonic and Leica are longstanding technology partners, so it’s no surprise to see parallels between these two sets of cameras.
