Use long exposures and camera movement to highlight urban structures
By altering the balance of the three key in-camera settings – aperture, ISO and shutter speed – you can create countless opportunities to explore the medium of photography.
One powerful technique used in the artistic and creative genre is to lengthen the exposure time while actively moving the camera. This technique, known as intentional camera movement (ICM), is often showcased when capturing natural landscapes. It skilfully turns hard and detailed frames into artful blurry elements, underlining colours while altering the familiar shapes of objects within the frame and giving them a more abstract look instead.
