“It’s fun to do a sex scene when your goal isn’t to be hot, it’s to be funny,” Margaret Qualley tells me. “That takes a lot of pressure off.” We are discussing Drive-Away Dolls, the first in a trilogy of lesbian comedies from queer director Tricia Cooke and husband Ethan Coen.
Margaret couldn’t be more different from Jamie, her character in the film. She’s wearing lace gloves, a pearl necklace and red lipstick that emphasises her perpetually-parted lips. Whereas Jamie can be described as a tomboyish and cheeky female Casanova.
