Many of us find life a bit of a struggle, and it’s no surprise. Even now (she says at 62, having come out at 19), queer people grapple to find their feet in an environment that encourages hate. This is why International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Lesbophobia, Interphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBLIT) on 17 May exists. It started as IDAHO but the list of phobias has been added to as the world finds new ways to stigmatise us.
