Production NOTES
Showrunner CHRIS CHIBNALL reflects on an emotional day at Roath Lock Studios.
Showrunner Chris Chibnall is overseeing his final episodes.
Everyone is quiet, hushed. Masks on, crew members have formed two lines facing each other, either side of the walkway stretching from the TARDIS doors up to the console, with the ramped walkway in the middle. People are shushed. She’s coming. Get ready.
The doors open, and Jodie Whittaker looks in – everyone bursts into applause, cheers and whoops. She is applauded as she walks onto the set, up the walkway towards the console, down the centre of this guard of honour, bestowed upon her by the team who have worked with her these past three series. Like the atmosphere on set for the whole of the Thirteenth Doctor’s time, it’s not solemn, but it is heartfelt – people are beaming, laughing, whooping, and their hearts are full. But eyes are beginning to prick with emotion.
