Russell T Davies accepts his award from BAFTA Cymru.
Ilse Keller (Carla Juri) and Miss Rocholl (Judi Dench) in Six Minutes to Midnight.
David Tennant plays the vicar of a quiet English town in Steven Moffat’s Inside Man.

AWARDS

Russell T Davies’ trophy cabinet is hopefully bigger on the inside, as he now has yet another gong – this one for Best Writer (for It’s a Sin), which he won at the BAFTA Cymru Awards announced on 24 October.

Lucinda Wright was nominated for Best Costume Design for Six Minutes to Midnight.

Adjoa Andoh has been awarded an honorary fellowship by Rose Bruford College, Alan Cumming an honorary doctorate by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and Suzanne Packer an honorary fellowship by Bridgend College.

OBITUARIES

Michael Ferguson, who directed The War Machines, The Seeds of Death, The Ambassadors of Death and The Claws of Axos, having previously worked as assistant floor manager on the very first Dalek story, died on 4 October, aged 84. A full tribute will appear in a future issue.

Andy Smart, the respected stuntman who worked on Evolution of the Daleks, Let’s Kill Hitler, The Rings of Akhaten and The Zygon Inversion, died in May after a short battle with cancer.

Pete Farries, who built the Whomobile for Jon Pertwee, with the special car featuring in Invasion of the Dinosaurs and Planet of the Spiders, died at the end of September.
