Barking!
The Red Lion in Cardiff Bay becomes the focus for Sergeant Andy’s latest bizarre investigation in Dog Hop, the new Torchwood release written by Lauren Mooney and Stewart Pringle, which is best described as the film Freaky Friday (1976) with dogs.
“Oh God, it is Freaky Friday with dogs! I never thought about it like that before!” says Stewart. “I used to be the artistic director of a small theatre above a pub. The barman was Tim Foley, before he became a Big Finish writer, and we used to joke about dogs and their owners swapping bodies. Someone would come in, looking out of sorts, and they’d have this dog who just looked baffled, and we’d be like, ‘Oop, Colin’s hopped into his labrador again!’ That idea stuck with me, and for ages I tried to convince my agent there was a whole sitcom in it. He would sort of nod cautiously and never mention it again.”
