Peter Butterworth as the Monk, an impish opponent for the Doctor in The Time Meddler (1965).
In the women’s clothing department of Selfridge’s in London’s West End, Peter Butterworth is unaware he’s the subject of an elaborate sting. He’s just had a tiff with his wife – impressionist Janet Brown – and stalked off to who knows where. But a voice booms out over the store’s public address system, demanding he make himself known. Baffled, he emerges once more. So too does Eamonn Andrews, hooping his arm through Peter’s (lest he escape), advising him: “Tonight, comedy star Peter Butterworth, This is Your Life!”
Carry On writer Talbot ‘Tolly’ Rothwell, a friend of Peter’s since the war.
