You can hardly move without bumping into a cardbased videogame these days. No surprise, then, that one of the most ubiquitous tabletop variants should make such an attractive proposition for any designer looking to remix it. Zach Gage has had a couple of goes with Sage Solitaire and Flipflop Solitaire, and now it’s Mike Bithell’s turn, with what is pitched as a game of ‘tactical table-based espionage’. It’s Klondike with bells on, basically, as you use a card-based interface to direct a series of spy crews remotely. Their face cards represent individual agents that, when activated by playing their ace, can help or hinder your attempts to complete the four ordered suits in the centre.
