THIS MONTH ON EDGE
Some of the other things on our minds when we weren’t doing everything else
SIMULATION
Bridge Command

Having toured the sets of this London-based space sim while it was being built, back in
E396,
we knew broadly what to expect. The scale and fidelity of its Star Trek-styled interiors remain impressive, though, provided you can stomach a bit of Original Series plastic-sheeting wobbliness. This is essentially all one big alt-ctrl peripheral, letting you interface with the EmptyEpsilon game powering each two-hour experience. Not every possible role is equally stimulating – while engineering gets to run about jamming power cores into sockets, running weapons and shields largely consists of inputting numbers on a screen – but that’s more than made up for by the novelty of your surroundings, and the freedom to pull your assigned mission off course and watch the on-site gamemasters scramble to keep up.
