Our biggest question is answered within seconds. Yes, it still feels as good as we remember. Motion Twin’s (well, technically Evil Empire’s, the Bordeaux studio having split itself in two to support the game while developing something new) Roguelike remains an absolute joy in the hands: the level of iteration that has clearly gone into every aspect of the way you move around this world is mindboggling. It’s been too long, in truth – in our defence, when so many new games are coming out, it’s hard to make time for old ones – but you don’t need muscle memory when a game with such satisfying heft to its action still feels so gloriously responsive.
