It’s a wrap!
IMOGEN MORRIS HAS DEVELOPED A UNIQUE WAY OF WORKING, WITH WONDERFIL THREAD INTEGRAL TO HER PROCESS
When Imogen Morris takes her art to shows, the question she is asked most often is, ‘how long did it take to make?’ She notes: ‘It’s interesting because I want the making process to be evident in the final piece. When people ask me that question they’re acknowledging a lot of time went into the making of the work.’
She describes her process of recreating everything from buildings to portraits, zeroing in on her particular love, eyes, via thread wrapped around nails, as ‘a really complicated method of dot-to-dot’, those pictures we loved to create as children. But Imogen has stepped up the process, making polygonal work where each image is based on a series of nail-andthread-wrapped triangles.
