Joy in the Detail at the Crafts Study Centre demonstrates the dynamic range of inventive and expressive work from the 62 Group of Textile Artists, an artist-led organisation. Members were asked to create small textile works, 2-D or 3-D, or to navigate longer length ‘ribbons’ at a specified width but at any length. This use of scale allows the construction of textiles, their patterns, folds and drapes, to demand attention within the physical gallery space. The title of the exhibition refers to the artists’ influences as well as multiplicities in the forms of cloth and their analogies.
