Director Justin Kurzel.
JUSTIN KURZEL HAS spent his career trying to understand violence. Since Snowtown, his 2011 debut about a real-life series of murders in 1980s Adelaide, Kurzel’s films — Macbeth, Assassin’s Creed, and most recently The True History Of The Kelly Gang — have all explored how men become killers and how killing becomes mundane. His latest may not be his most violent (most of the killing happens off-screen), but it is his most complex and incendiary.
