Floral still-life by Nicolaes van Veerendael sold for €290,000 (£256,640) by Karl & Faber.
Eight determined bidders were on hand when Karl & Faber (25% buyer’s premium) sold a floral still-life by Nicolaes van Veerendael (1640-91) at the November 9 auction in Munich.
The 20 x 17in (52 x 42cm) canvas with an opulent composition of roses, tulips, hibiscus and brambles was dated 1672 – it is one of the few paintings by the artist that are dated.
