Thousands of hours of unseen David Bowie footage will form the backdrop for a new documentary film about the late icon.
Director Brett Morgen, whose previous work includes Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck, has worked for four years on the untitled project which has been described as, “neither documentary nor biography, but an immersive cinematic experience built, in part, upon thousands of hours of never before seen material.”
Bowie’s wife Iman has thrown her support behind the film after previously stating the Bowie estate wouldn’t authorise a straightforward biopic. Also onboard is long-time Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti as the project’s music producer and the Oscar-winning sound team behind Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody.
