Don’t judge a book by its cover… but you can certainly judge our Sacred and Profane cover for the festive season, reflecting our usual DANTE style inside the magazine. This issue’s shot, taken by our resident photographer Giuseppe Gervasio, features handsome HRH hounds Matisse, (International champion of Luxembourg, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Cyprus, and Macedonia), Didie’ (American champion), Isabelle (champion of Italy and Luxembourg) and Penelope, owned by poodle breeder Giulio Topan. We seem to have acquired monkish habits. Last year we were also religious, with our cover showing St. Sebastian as Europe shot through with Brexit and “Brek EU” arrows.
The holiday season is a good time to relax, but as usual we want to make this relaxing time special, so we seek alternative ways to stimulate your brain while you sit down with this new issue. Massimo Gava, notoriously teetotal (almost for this issue) came up with the idea of creating special DANTE cocktails. So we teamed up with master distiller Stefano Baseotto, who with barman Paolo Foramiti at Caffè Municipio in Pordenone, created two new drinks – called, of course, the DANTE and the Beatrice. (See Page 88 for full story)
Our Yuletime theme takes in a few fun tours of history. First, Mark Bryant looks at festive fun, past and present, with cartoons to enjoy; then actor Philip Rham tells the story of that very English phenomenon, the pantomime; while Mike Hawthorne discovers the king of pirates. Also for your festive season, we present a survey of the best cheeses from Italy for after-dinner snacking, chosen by Marco Pernini, celebrity chef and chef to celebrities.
Given DANTE’s Italian origins – we are the only international magazine with an Italian soul – we celebrate one of the country’s most famous exports, the Ferrari, which is marking its 70th birthday.

Happy New Year 2018 from all of us!

Like The Economist for people with style

Like The Economist for people with style. Good range of topics and easy to flick through - very nice! Reviewed 16 March 2016

A great magazine

A great magazine – not about a poet of the past but a clever look into the future with informed predictions on just about everything. The app does it justice too. Reviewed 16 March 2016

The best all life and all style mag!

As an Italian who now lives in the UK,
having Dante magazine as an app
allows me to read topics that won’t get
a look-in in other magazines.
I can also keep in touch with global trends
and names of the future.
It is really smooth and easy to get around,
with good interactive elements.
I love the consistently well written
features by respected journalists.
The app covers loads of sections from
Art, Culture, Film, Travel and more…
So I never miss out on anything!
