I’m conident that you and I will breeze through Christmas if we take on board the expert advice in this issue. Since I topped up my low vitamin D levels, for instance, I’ve dodged the many colds and bugs that used to plague me in winter. Check if being short of vitamin D could be the reason you’re at a low ebb (see p78). For some people, lack of energy can point to iron deiciency anaemia, or just be a sign that iron stores in your body are low (p28). Our nutrition and medical experts explain how to tackle these nutrition shortfalls and, of course, diet plays a big part in prevention and recovery. Foodwise, we’re riding an exciting wave of plant-based eating. More of us are flexitarian, if not 100% veggie or vegan. So this year, instead of giving more recipes for turkey (go to healthyfood.co.uk for our healthy archive), we’ve created an incredibly simple, crowd-pleasing whole roasted spicy caulilower (p56). It’s a looker, too, so we’d love to see shots of your inished dish. Please email or share your photos on social media (remember to tag us – see p8). But once you’ve captured that image, we urge you to put that phone down, kick back and enjoy a digital detox until the new year. Read our feature on the beneits to you and your family of going cold turkey (p19).
Happy Christmas from the Healthy Food Guide team. See you in the new year!
