The Royal Bank of Scotland Heritage Hub (www.rbs.com/heritage.html) is a fascinating collection of material from a number of banking organisations that are now part of the RBS group, including banks from our high streets of today, such as Natwest, Ulster Bank, Isle of Man Bank; well established banks such as Coutts (established in 1692) and Child & Co (established in 1640); Holts with its links to the military; and Drummonds which was founded by a London Goldsmith in around 1712. In all, around 200 banks are archived here. It is estimated that the archive shelves would stretch for 6km if laid side by side.
