SLAM MSR 160
Damn, that’s one sexy Slam!
THIS MONTH I HAVE MOSTLY BEEN… “Crashing and making excuses…”
Elbow down, but not in the way intended.
Ilasted all of three laps before I was on my arse and sliding uncontrollably into a tyre wall. The crash didn’t hurt, but my box-fresh Slam MSR 160 was certainly not box-fresh any more.
To add fuel to the fire, so to say, petrol began pissing out of the overflow and warranted the red flag popping out. As if my ego hadn’t already been bruised enough, the longish push back to the pits made the experience all the more painful, but at least it gave me time to think up a credible excuse for my dismount; the stock Zhen Ting tyres. Surely that’d work. Not only was the Slam’s stock rubber harder than a coffin nail, but the track was also colder than a witch’s tit. “What happened there?” asked BSB young-gun Lee Jackson. “Bloody tyres, mate,” came my reply. “You want to fit some Bridgestone ML50s for these conditions. That’s what I’m running.”When someone as fast as Lee talks, you listen. Especially if you’re like me and completely new to this pitbike malarkey.
