I got this bike from Northern Ireland, a 1992 RS250 NF5 proddy racer, a little GP bike. I’d ridden a couple of John Chapman’s bikes, and they’re more interesting than road bikes because, as we all know, the two-stroke racing era was the best. I bid on it in an auction, and won! It’s special because it’s the last model before they switched to a single-sided swingarm and was only in production for about eight months. When I got it I saw some Tony Scott engravings on the cases, and when I split it found out it was a full Stage-3 tuned engine.I rebuilt it with what I could get hold of and it is really sweet. Most people with bikes from this era paint them in Rothmans, but few ever see the period Japanese colours and I loved the Cup Noodle design. The bike is a real keeper but I’m looking for a later one. You can get spares for them, but finding them for this is tricky so I want another. It’s a sickness and I’ll never be cured!
