NEARLY NEW
So, you’ve picked up that inheritance cheque from your dear departed uncle. He was a lovely old boy wasn’t he? And he’d want you to use his life savings well. So it’s straight down the dealers (not that one) for a nearly new two-wheeled performance missile, isn’t it? Or do you stick the cash on Dovizioso for the 2017 MotoGP title, and sign up for a brand new PCP’d tool in the meantime? The choice is yours – but here’s some new and nearly new weapons to consider…
USED BIKES
Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade
The new one is a corker, although it’s still a wee bit down in outright power on the opposition. You can’t argue with all the tech though: ride by wire, Öhlins electronic suspension, IMU – and the Blade’s always done more with less, in terms of bhp at any rate. If you want to go older, you can get a proper bargain on a two-year-old Repsol SP version. Old-school throttle cables, Honda quality, and it’s still a 170bhp superbike. Buy one of these, put on a stone or two, and go out and live your life as John McGuinness.
