Chances are you’ve come across Kriega over the years, but it’s only more recently that I’ve had chance to indulge in their brilliance. I’ve got the R30 rucksack on test, which is the second largest of the rider packs available, and it’s also the largest to come with a guarantee of being waterproof, which has never let me down. The first chance I had to try it out was on a three day blast to Wales, where it got crammed to the hilt and generally abused in all kinds of weather.
That taught me all I needed to know about the 30 litre bag; both how fantastically accommodating it is and how tough it’s built. The bag has a decent sized main compartment, plus a couple of handy external pockets to store your essentials, so you don’t have to go rummaging for items when you need them fast. Another key design feature of the bag is its Quadlock harness, which not only makes slipping it on and off effortless, but also ensures ultimate comfort and weight distribution so you can get away with wearing it all day and not be left feeling done in. This bag’s not cheap, but so far I’ve failed to fififind any reason to pick faults with it, and I’m pretty damn critical of most things. Kriega’s done a good job here.
