Jamaica have raided England for a Gold Cup recruitment drive
It’s 23 years since a glut of Premier League stars helped Jamaica shine at their first World Cup finals – now the Caribbean nation are hoping for a repeat.
Robbie Earle, Frank Sinclair and Deon Burton were among seven England-born players in their squad at France 98, having largely been recruited during qualification.
Another World Cup has eluded Jamaica – they reached their first ever CONCACAF Gold Cup final in 2015, but then endured their worst World Cup campaign since the pre-1998 days, finishing bottom in the penultimate group of qualifying after a home defeat to Haiti.
