ROUND-UP
VINYL KONTAKT INSTRUMENTS
Five nostalgic instruments from lootaudio.com: which will become relics? Which will stand the test of time?
Alden Nulden Productions – Statix II £9
This is an extremely simple tool to emulate the sound of a vinyl record and turntable, which is an incredibly sought-after sound in the world of sampling. This Kontakt instrument (full version) includes a variety of knobs capable of changing the sound (electric, dust, and scratch) as well as the type of record you’re trying to emulate.
Although Statix II does aim to be an essential part of any avid sampler’s toolkit, the sound comes across as a vinyl emulation, rather than the real deal, even with the included randomise function. For this reason, Statix II seems slightly overpriced when compared with other free alternatives.
